Chapter XIII. The Sixth House.—Sickness, SERVANTS, Work, ert（续 1）

TueE Moon in the sixth house denotes a liability to suffer in healtr through changes and fluctuating causes ; it is particularly inimical during the infantile stage, andifmuch afflicted shows danger ofan earlydeath. The health is always liable to break down when under adverse lunar influences.

If afflicted by: Sun or Uranus, the digestion is usually impaired by this position, and the native becomes a dyspeptic; Mars, inflammatory complaints; Saturn, chronic diseases are shown. Good aspects to the . Moon lessen the tendency to suffer in health, but it is not a good position for the Moon so far as health is concerned.

This position makes the native a better servant than master, and shows ability to serve others and win the good fellowship of equals; it favours domestic service, and gives many opportunities to enjoy life if employed as man-servant or maid in families of good position. It shows success in work of a light, watery, or fluctuating nature, but often gives a strong desire to come before the public professionally.

The body is the physical medium through which we express ourselves upon the physical plane, therefore it becomes essential to know «he kind of dietary most suitable for the physical welfare of the native. The sixth house is peculiarly related to food, and the nourishment of the

physical body; thus ill-health often results through inattention to the diet most suited to the body.

If the native has Mercury in the sixth house, it will be found that he has many fads and fancies with regard to diet, unless that planet is very well aspected or occupying the sign Virgo, when he will make a study of the laws of hygiene; but if afflicted this will be carried too far and the native become a faddist, over-dainty and lacking in commonsense with regard to diet. Saturn in the sixth often inclines the native to become too ascetic and prone to adopt periods of fasting and privation, thus going against the very necessary requirement of this indication that a generous and nourishing diet should be adopted; in such a case the room where meals are taken should be sunny and its temperature warm. Mars in the sixth has a tendency to cause the native to overindulge and eat too much, but it generallly denotes a very healthy appetite. Jupiter in the sixth sometimes causes ill-health through surfeit and the love of feasting. Venus in this house sometimes denotes a danger of excess through a love of nice things to eat and drink, but generally its influence is temperate, especially if in Libra. The Moon will cause the native to be whimsical and fanciful in his eating, and over-fond of liquids and moist foods.

The signs occupied by the planets will in the majority of cases modify the influence, and in some cases accentuate the foregoing. In all cases where the Moon or Mercury occupies the sixth, reading, worry and anxiety should be avoided at meal times. Cases have been known where natives have suffered considerably through the magnetic conditions of those who have been present at meal times, showing the extremely psychic nature of this house. Again, persons with Saturn in the sixth, or even ruling the sixth, will be magnetically affected by the occupants at the same table during meals, while those having Jupiter in the sixth or ruling this house will be benefited by others joining at a meal - -probably owing to the social element that Jupiter always tends to give.

Similar remarks apply, though in a lesser degree, when by progression after birth the radical position of such planet has descended into the sixth house. In one case the progression of Saturn’s place into the sixth house in this way caused the native to suffer much discomfort and annoyance from being obliged to take meals in chilly, draughty and sunless apartments and in undesirable surroundings.

When judging sickness from the sixth house care should be taken

to note the general state of health, the constitution, and liability to functional disorders. No definite statement should be made from the sixth house or planets in that house with regard to sickness, unless illhealth is shown by the nativity, such as the affliction of the luminaries, etc. ; then note carefully the indications of the sixth house. Changes in the system and a liability to ill-health will arise when the planets in the sixth are aspected by the luminaries, but this may be caused by good aspects as well as those which are considered evil. A malefic may occupy the sixth house and yet the native will enjoy general good health ; but there will come a time when the health will break down, and then the malefic influence in the sixth will affect the native, either temporarily or permanently, according to the original indications.

It is generally true that the part of the body denoted by a sign of the zodiac is affected whenever the malefic planets are found in that sign of birth, but especially if in the sixth house. If the native suffer from any inflammatory complaint the sign occupied by Mars will show that a mark or scar will be left upon that part of the body after illness. Should the native suffer from rheumatic fever and Mars occupy the sign Capricorn upon the cusp of the sixth, then a mark or scar would be left upon one or both knees, and in all probability the fever would expend itself chiefly through that part of the body. If Saturn occupies the sixth then that part of the body governed by the sign holding Saturn would be the weak or fatal part. Similarly with Uranus; if Uranus occupies Leo in the sixth there may be liability to heart disease, etc.

The sixth house may be considered a psychic house, in which the psychic tendencies of the native are indicated. All forms and ceremonies in which the native is interested are usually shown by this house, it being the house of phenomenal or ceremonial magic. It is, however, a house in which much may be said to be latent, and unexpressed. Saturn and Jupiter in the sixth incline to form and ceremony; in the physical world this sometimes expresses itself in uniformed servants connected with the household, or the commoner types of liveried servants. The finer grades of the physical or earthy triplicity combine to operate through the influence of this sixth house.
