NEPTUNE appears to favour the sea in all its varied means of finding occupation and work. It has also to do with spiritualism, psychism, etc. In regard to business, those interested in the cotton industry are, it is said, frequently found to have this position at birth.

Uranus fits the native to follow uncommon and original pursuits, to study inventions, reconstruct, and undertake new and improved methods, to create new professions or adopt unique plans of work, etc.

SATURN fits the native to undertake grave responsibility, also to follow pursuits that require deep study or patient planning; architects, land surveyors, contractors, miners, builders, holders of public positions and offices, municipal or state officials, etc., are signified by Saturn.

JUPITER gives success as merchants, physicians, lawyers, ministers, bankers, and persons in whom much trust and confidence are placed, also in all employments of a lucrative and fruitful nature in which other people’s money is principally concerned, such as trustees, stockbrokers and money-changers, etc.

Mars, employments and professions in which muscular energy is necessary, hazardous and skilful occupations in which there is always an element of risk and danger ; such as soldier, surgeon, dentist, worker in metals, chemist, engineer, sailor, agitator, etc.

THE Sun will give love of power, with ability to rule and command, and will fit the native for government employment and professions or business to which much dignity and honour are attached.

Venus, refined and artistic occupations and all business directiy concerned with females, adornment, finery, jewellery, amusements, pleasure, luxury, etc.

Mercury, literature, agencies, clerical work, and all employments requiring study, skill, and ingenuity.

Tue Moon will give ability in business or employments of a fluctuating and changing nature, such as a seafaring life or travelling about from place to place, from hawking goods to advertising on the largest scale, dealing in novelties, etc.

In addition to the ruler it is necessary also to note the planet in closest aspect thereto, and also to pay special attention to the planet Mercury, which as ruler of the mental faculties has a very important influence over the business abilities and chances of success.

Mercury in conjunction with Uranus will cause the mind to be more inventive and will bring the mental conditions to those of Uranus. When partaking of Saturn’s nature there will be more organising power and ability to manage others, also to study deep and grave subjects such as chemistry, science, etc. When partaking of Jupiter’s nature, philosophical tendencies, and ability to put the mind into profitable undertakings. When partaking of the nature of Mars the wit is sharpened and the profession is more of the commercial and enterprising type. The following hints will be serviceable.

Hix<,A. Metaphysicians, advanced scientists, chemists of the progressive order. Investigators, explorers, teachers, divines, and world reformers.

HIT] 2. Hypnotists, antiquarians, dealers in antiquities and curiosities, astronomers, reporters, sensational novelists and those who are oddities, eccentrics and cranks, generally having distorted views and notions.

h 6. Organisers, managers, solicitors, government officials, stationers, surveyors, detectives, and those who follow secretive and diplomatic occupations.

h»,A. Architects, builders, contractors, lawyers, scientists, mining engineers, coal merchants, geologists, and those whose employment requires care, skill, and sound judgment.

hO,¢. Bookbinders, printers, carpenters, potters, bricklayers, miners, and those who labour with body as well as mind, particularly with the hands and brain combined, such as dyers, etc.

YO, . Clothiers, provision dealers; drapers, upholsterers, officers, and those who cater for the public, or who hold the lower government offices, where unpleasant duties are performed.

& 6. Sculptors, carvers, artists in wood, engravers, cricketers, footballers, wrestlers, strong men, mechanics, soldiers, etc.

60],¢. Butchers, cattle-men, tanners, masons, labourers, iron workers, and those who may be skilful, but have to follow coarse and low callings, in which grime and dirt play a prominent part, such as scavengers, lavatory attendants, etc.

° $. Musicians, painters, artists, speakers, and those who minister to the minds of others. Somewhat similar to the conjunction with Neptune.

Each ruler may be joined with other planets, and combinations made according to the ingenuity of the student. Practice will suggest many occupations which will appeal to the native. Do not judge forgers, or those who live by sharp practice or by their wits, unless % is afflicted by both ¢ and h without any signs of moral stamina in other directions. Saturn and Mars will make the employment more practical and laborious than Jupiter or Venus, but at the same time the whole horoscope must be well weighed before a definite and decisive opinion can be given.

As a general significator of avocation, Saturn, being the ruler of Capricorn, the natural tenth house in the order of the signs, is important

and should have a very careful consideration.

’ CHAPTER. XVIIf Tue ELeventH House—Frienps, Hopes and WISHES

Tuts house is that of friends, acquaintances, hopes, wishes, aspirations. It belongs to the triangle of the seventh and third houses, and has a great deal in common with both of these. By secondary influence it stands to the seventh house as the fifth stands to the first ; that is, it is the fifth house of the marriage partner, and therefore has to be taken into account when considering questions concerning children and the other affairs of the fifth house. Taken by itself, free from affliction, it may be considered a benefic house, as its natural tendency seems to be towards good fortune, pleasure, happiness and prosperity; and benefics in this house or planets well aspected will benefit the native, socially or otherwise, and lift him up in the world, according to the nature of the planet. It has a great deal of sympathy also with the tenth house; and is often found containing strong or fortunate planets in the horoscopes of persons who are prominent in politics, in municipal affairs, or who in business matters are concerned with the many rather than the few, through factories, companies, associations, stores, societies, etc.

Its connection with the seventh house is shown in the fact that, in some cases, as alluded to in Chapter XIV, the lover or marriage partner is more accurately described by the eleventh house than by the seventh, as it stands for friendships that may end in marriage. But as a matter of fact, any house under consideration should be judged along with the other two that are in trine toit. For instance, if the eleventh house is examined in a question concerning friends, its relation to the seventh will show open friends, and to the third, secret or private friends Good aspects between planets in these three houses or between their rulers are extremely fortunate in the matters governed by them; the affairs signified are strengthened and benefited greatly ; friends will hold firmly to the native and he will have pleasure and good luck through them, his family ties will be strong and fortunate, and marriage will benefit him socially.
