167. %.—Many journeys, with a love of travelling and sightseeing ; journeys are also undertaken for business purposes or in search of

information. It shows a very active mind and indifferent relations with brethren.

168. ).—Many short journeys, usually through compulsion, either for business purposes or between two houses, and unless a fixed sign is on the cusp, journeys and changes are frequent. The mind is more or less changeable, and there are many experiences connected with relatives.

If no planet occupy the third house the quality of the sign occupying the cusp should be studied.

168a. A CaRDINAL SicN denotes much travelling about, a love of change, and many journeys. The mind is ambitious; close ties are formed with relatives.

1686. A Frxep SicGn gives a disinclination to travel about, and any travel undertaken is usually compulsory. Tends to make the mind proud or austere, and thus gives a liability of estrangements with relations.

168c. A MuTABLe Sicn shows journeys to be the result of circumstances, and does not denote any definite desire for travel. Sometimes residence in foreign countries, however. The mind is usually indecisive.

The fourth house is usually concerned with the environment, comprising parents, home life, the domicile and domestic affairs generally, also the condition at the close of life. Asin the other houses so here, a planet or planets occupying this house accentuates its influence over the lifeas a whole. If no planet zz the house, that ruling the sign on the cusp should be regarded as the main influence concerned.

169. ‘t.—Uncertainty with regard to birth; peculiar environments, probability of unhappiness in the home life, and a strange end.

170. H.—Eccentricities in connection with parentage; peculiar environment; dislike for domestic affairs; sudden changes at the close of life; strong leanings towards the occult.

171. h.—Usually a poor environment; necessity for economy in domestic affairs ; the cultivation of acquisitiveness ; with probabilities of an isolated old age. |

172. %.—A good birth with favourable social environment; more success at home than abroad; domestic happiness; gain by inheritance A prosperous and comfortable end to the life.

173. &.—An unfavourable environment; turbulent home life; unfavourable domestic surroundings, and difficulties at the close of life.

174. ©@.—Denotes a good end to the career, a favourable environment, and usually a strong character.

175. @.—Good parentage; peaceful environment; harmonious home surroundings; success in the domestic sphere, and a satisfactory finish.

176- %.—An unsettled environment; worries in connection with home life and a changeable period at end of life.

177. ).—Much attachment to home, many doméstic cares and worries ; changes and fluctuations in home life; a love of the mystical and occult. But much depends upon aspects.

The fifth house is connected with enterprise and all matters of a speculative character, which are supposed to be concerned with pleasure and the generative principles. Planets in this house need special study, as it may be taken as showing in a special sense the trend of past lives.

178. *$.—Grave risks in connection with love affairs, fraudulent enterprises, or troubles in connection with speculation. If well aspected, unexpected gains. This position sometimes favours platonic unions.

179. Hi.—An enterprising and speculative nature. Sudden and unexpected gains and losses. Much romance, but estrangements in love affairs.

180. h.—Keen interest in all enterprises, but sorrowful experiences in connection with pleasure, and often indifferent success concerning speculation. Trouble through children.

181. %.—Success in speculation; luck in connection with enterprises ; fruitful issue; success in all pleasures, and social gain through children.

182. 6.—Much energy in connection with enterprise; tendency to be rash in speculation, and (especially if afflicted by Jupiter) where a gambling spirit is denoted the ‘plunging’ element is very strong. It denotes ardent affections, and often entanglements.

183. ©.—Favourable for all matters of an enterprising nature. The speculative interests are very keen and the capacity for enjoyment very great.

184. @.—Enterprises of a successful character; gain through investment or speculation; successful love affairs; a fruitful and happy union; gain through children, with a liability to excesses in pleasure.

185. %.—Denotes love of enterprise, mental interests in speculative affairs; some romance; much correspondence connected with love affairs, and generally a love of children.

186. ).—While showing an enterprising tendency, sometimes inclines to gambling. Often a love of sensation, with a liability to be easily affected or impressed by others. Usually gives a love of pleasure.

The sixth house is usually concerned with the state of the health, association with inferiors, servants, and the working capacities. Planets in this house have much to do with matters of hygiene, and if afflicted signify ill-health.

187. ‘*#.—Peculiar ailments; uncommon disorders; liability to obsession, or to be affected by unhealthy surroundings. Frequently somewhat morbid or hysterical.

188. H1.—Peculiar and often incurable complaints; dangers through operations ; strange illnesses. Sometimes hysterical or hypochondriacal. Sickness generally arises through nervous disorders. Interest in psychic matters.

189. h.—Wasting diseases; sickness following colds or chills ; bad circulation, and unless the constitution is strong many long and severe illnesses. Industrious worker; trouble in connection with servants or inferiors.

190. Y%.—A speedy and quick recovery from sickness through good and proper nursing. If afflicted, a liability to intemperate living affecting the blood and liver. Faithful servants and success with inferiors.

191. 3$.—Much energy in connection with work; active servants: difficulties with inferiors; illnesses affecting the muscular system. If afflicted by Saturn, rheumatic fevers ; generally a tendency to meRcreaay, producing feverish and inflammatory complaints.

192. ©@-—Denotes vital strength; constitution able to resist disease ; ability to recuperate. It also denotes gain through inferiors ; ability to work hard; but it is not a fortunate position for the Sun.

193. ¢.—If afflicted, kidney troubles; sickness through indiscretion in diet, but successful nursing; usually good servants: success in dealing with inferiors.

194. %.—Nerves affected, or at least highly sensitive. Ill-health through worry, usually concerning work. LEasily influenced by inferiors. Keen psychic impressions, and mental afflictions if badly aspected.

195. ).—Disturbs functional arrangements; gives liability to indigestion; sickness through too much bathing or travelling; and a tendency to absorb impure magnetism. If afflicted, liability to tumorous complaints.

If the lord of the Ascendant is in the sixth, much ill-health may be indicated, especially if afflicted there. This position usually produces a prodigious worker, and sometimes gives strong socialistic tendencies.

Although the seventh house is chiefly connected with marriage, there are matters governed by it that are explained in the first part of this work (see Chapter XIV). The following, however, are the general indications when planets occupy the seventh; they will also in many cases apply to the lord of the seventh, if no planets occupy the house.

196. ‘s'.—Usually unfavourable for marriage, and uncommon experiences generally occur in connection with it. This position is favourable for a platonic union if the horoscope as a whole denotes an advanced character. }

197. H.—Estrangements and peculiar episodes in connection with marriage, or a union with someone quite out of the common. The position of Uranus in the seventh house is often a dangerous position for marriage unless the senses are well under control by both parties.

198. h.—Hinders or delays marriage, but promises a faithful and steady partner; one who is industrious, careful, and thrifty, but not demonstrative, valuing action more than speech.
