The fiery signs are the most fortunate and give independence and ambition. The earthly do not give such good fortune, but they cause the native to be practical and persevering. ‘The Airy signs give more fortune and also much refinement and intellectuality. The Watery signs are the least fortunate, giving sensitiveness and often lack of energy.

The Cardinal signs show ambition, forcefulness, love of change, and reform. The fixed signs give reserve power and determination. The Common signs intellect, sympathy, and versatility, with some instability.

Ruler in the Signs, and afflicted Passionate ; hasty ; headstrong; impulsive ; liberal, Obstinate ; jealous; lethargic ; dogmatic ; conceited. Conceited ; diffusive ; lacking in continuity ; irritable. Sensational ; over-sensitive ; faddy ; whimsical ; peevish. Proud ; domineering ; sensual; prodigal ; too passionate. Selfish ; over-critical ; deceptive ; shy ; revengeful. Dreamy ; fanciful ; separative ; timid ; cowardly. Vindictive ; stubborn ; very proud ; jealous ; and deceitful. Irritable ; over-assertive ; rebellious ; self-opinionative. Over-subtle ; treacherous; unreliable ; dishonest ; sullen. Irregular ; wavering ; romantic ; scheming ; tricky. Lazy ; unreliable ; shifty ; procrastinative ; spiteful.

Care should be taken to judge accurately the nature of the affliction. A planet is weak when out of dignities and when in square, semi-square, sesquiquadrate or opposition with the malefics, in a general sense; but the afflictions often give grit and force, though this depends upon the house as well as sign.

I. Success in life through merit and personal effort. Dignity and honour created by determination and strength of character. II. Financial successes and prosperity through increased turn-over, Noble thoughts ; also the power to make money. III, Success through learning, and mental abilities, Gain by travel and through relatives and kindred. IV. Inheritance; heredity ; experiences at the close of life ; psychic experiences, V. Successful enterprises; love of pleasure. Gain through children, enjoyment, and investments, speculation, etc. VI. Gain by inferiors and through own industry in employment and in business. VII, Gain by marriage, partnerships, and sometimes through opponents. The native is often helped by others. VIII. Gain through partner, marriage, co-workers, legacies, and through deaths. ‘The native is drawn toward the occult and mystical. IX. Gain from foreign affairs, travel, science, religion, etc. X. Success in life, gratified ambition, honour and fame; _ public appointments. XI. Help and gain through friends ; social success. XII. Gain through institutions, asylums, occult and mystical affairs.

Note carefully the good aspects and where they come from.

Ruler in the Houses, and weak or afflicted

I. Loss and trouble through rash and foolish conduct, the native standing in his own light. Self-inflicted sorrows. II. Trouble in connection with finance. Monetary difficulties. III. Loss and trouble through misconception, errors in judgment, removals, and fruitless travel; trouble through brethren and education. IV. Domestic troubles, inharmonious home surroundings, losses at the close of life. V. Trouble through the opposite sex, losses through investment or speculation, and risk in enterprise. VI. Ill-health, troubles through inferiors, many moods, wrong emp oyment and errors in method. | VII. Trouble through marriage, partnerships, opponents, litigation and much opposition. Vill. ‘Trouble in connection with money left by will or legacy, and unpleasant death ; relatives or friends die or separate from native. IX. Losses through foreign affairs, long journeys, religious matters and scientific failures. X. Dishonour, loss of credit, difficulties with superiors, scandal, illrepute, trouble with profession. XI. Losses through friends and acquaintances, false hopes and wishes defeated. XII. Confinement, lack of progress, slow development, enemies.
