Chapter XIV. The SEVENTH House.—Marriage, PARTNERSHIPS, ENEMIES, ETC（续 1）

THE Sun in the seventh house in a male horoscope denotes a proud but honourable partner, and progress in life through marriage. Ina female horoscope it is not so important unless the Sun is ‘void of course,’ 7.¢., makes zo aspect during its progress from its place at birth before quitting the sign it is in. This position causes marriage to take place towards middle life, and denotes happiness in the married state.

If the Sun is much afflicted in the seventh, marriage will be delayed or strong opposition will be experienced. Lasting attachments and firm friendships are formed when the Sun occupies the seventh house, and when the Sun is in good aspect to the Moon or Jupiter from this house much domestic happiness is shown. If afflicted it is disastrous

according to the nature of the aspect and the position of the afflicting planet.

VeENus in the seventh house promises a happy marriage; the partner will be attractive and pleasing and generally fortunate. ‘Venus joys in the seventh’ is an old aphorism, for the seventh is the house and home of the planet Venus.

The afflictions to this planet must be very severe to cause unhappiness in the marriage state, though they may delay or hinder marriage; but the position of Venus alone is sufficient to ensure happiness, or a partner whose influence upon the life is beneficial. Success socially and financially comes after marriage and the help and assistance brought into it by the partner’s influence is such as to improve the whole of the future life of the native. If well aspected the whole of the life will turn upon marriage, but the best aspects will be those of the Moon and Jupiter, even the good aspects of Mars, Saturn and Uranus tending te act adversely upon the pure influence of Venus.

MeERcuRY in the seventh house denotes a partner who is quickwitted, clever, and not always to be relied upon. If afflicted a life of bickering and wrangling is shown. If well aspected the partner will be shrewd, active and progressive. Marriage usually takes place as the result of much correspondence or travelling, and the partner is generally younger than the native, and may be a cousin. The fact of Mercury being a convertible planet renders it important that the aspects of other planets to Mercury be considered carefully, and also the sign Mercury occupies must be taken into account. When unaspected care will be necessary in judging the influence of Mercury in the seventh house. If much afflicted legal troubles in connection with marriage are shown, and the possibility of much worry, anxiety, and difficulty arising out of misunderstandings either through speech, travelling or correspondence.

Tre Moon in the seventh house in a female horoscope denotes some romance in married life and a partner whose affections fluctuate. Unless the Moon is well aspected this is not a very favourable position. It should not be taken as the sole significator in a male horoscope, but it must be considered as an important factor in producing marriage.

It favours early marriage, and if alone in the seventh without aspects marriage will probably take place between twenty-four and twenty-eight. The marriage partner will be fond of change and travel and not always constant in affection. If afflicted, it denotes tragedy or

an early death for the partner. The sign occupied by the Moon must be studied, for the Moon will be coloured by the sign it is in almost as much as by the aspects it receives from the planets.

Although the seventh is principally the house of marriage, at the same time it also governs legal affairs, opponents, and that which is farthest removed from the native. It is the house of partners and co-workers, and, from a still higher standpoint, the house of the Individuality during the period of manifestation as contrasted with the Personality. The blending of these two is the true marriage, of which all unions on the physical plane are but material representations.

There are several rules for judging marriage, some of which we shall now consider.

The best testimony for a marriage that will be harmonious and successful is the interchanging of the luminaries. The Sun of the native in the same place as the Moon of the partner or the Moon near the partners Sun, is an admirable testimony of a happy union, or even a good aspect between the luminaries in the two horoscopes is very favourable.

In male horoscopes if the seventh house and its ruler do not offer a clear judgment note the application of the Moon, and in a female horoscope the Sun.

The ruler of the first and seventh houses should be in good aspect to each other; when afflicting, especially by square, disharmony and trouble are shown. |

In a female’s horoscope note carefully the Sun’s application to the planets,—the planets to which the. Sun applies denoting the men she will meet, favour, become engaged to, or marry. The planet, with the sign that it is in, will describe the men she will meet. Do not attach much, if any, importance to those planets from which the Sun is separating. It is not advisable to recommend marriage to the man described by the planet to which the Sun forms an adverse aspect; but this may be counteracted by a good aspect between Mars and Venus, which always hastens marriage. Saturn afflicting Venus delays and hinders it, causing much trouble in love and courtship.

The Sun’s application to any planet is very important when considering female horoscopes with regard to marriage. If the Sun applies to any aspect of Uranus or Saturn, or to both, and these two

planets aspect each other, marriage will tend to be unhappy or unfortunate. It denotes a late marriage, if any, or an exceptional union. This is especially evil if the luminaries are in affliction at the same time, and it denotes widowhood.

The Sun separating from a parallel of Uranus, Saturn, or Mars, is an unfavourable testimony for marriage, giving liability to widowhood. If the Sun applies to these three planets by favourable aspects it will denote several suitors, or more than one marriage.

The Sun applying to the conjunction of Jupiter, and a trine aspect to Saturn, favours more than one union. When the Sun is in a doublebodied sign, either Gemini, Sagittarius, or Pisces, and makes several applications, more than one union is denoted.

Similarly also both for males and females when the lord of the seventh or Venus occupies a double-bodied sign.

Women’s MarriaGes: Should the Sun be between the cusps of the tenth and seventh or the fourth and first, women marry early in life, or to men younger than themselves. Should the Sun be between the cusps of the first and tenth or the seventh and fourth, women marry late in life or to men older than themselves.

Men’s MarriaGEs: Should the Moon be oriental * or between the conjunction and first quarter, or between the opposition and last quarter, men marry early in life or to women younger than themselves. Should the Moon be occidental * or between the last quarter and conjunction, or between the first quarter and opposition, men marry late in life or to women older than themselves.

With men marriage is difficult to bring about when the Moon or

erish. i an in regard to the Sun, he is said to be oriental in houses XIJ., XI., X. or VL, V., IV., and occidental when in the opposite houses; the reason being that when the Sun has reached the seventh house cusp heis then decoming visible in the opposite hemisphere of the world, and when he has passed the fourth house cusp he has culminated and is therefore setting in that hemisphere, or falling down.
