Chapter XIV. The SEVENTH House.—Marriage, PARTNERSHIPS, ENEMIES, ETC（续 2）

Venus is in Aries, Leo, Virgo or Capricorn, and sometimes Gemini owing to its duality. If these signs are cadent and afflicted by Saturn, it is more difficult. The Moon afflicted by Sun, and Saturn and Moon in the occidental side of the map, results in hindrance or delay to marriage, often in no marriage at all. Planets in barren signs or cadent houses, with much affliction, are against marriage. When the Moon isin double signs, such as Gemini, Sagittarius or Pisces, then more than one marriage is shown: note also Venus the same, or a double-bodied sign on the seventh. |

The kind of partner is shown by the planet the Moon applies to. Thus: if the Moon applies to Uranus, little domestic comfort; to Saturn, a partner, grave, serious, industrious, poor, careful, laborious and sometimes cold in temperament—if Saturn weak, then one of poor birth, ete. ; to Mars, one who will be masterful, bold, proud, and conceited, often quarrelsome and disputatious ; to Jupiter, virtuous, peaceful, harmonious,

-etc.; to Venus, cheerful, good-looking and happy; to Mercury, clever, sensible and witty—but if afflicted look out for tongue, for speech will be quick and fluent and not always choice.

Judge of the descriptions according to the planet occupying the seventh and the sign of the cusp thereof: if no planet in seventh, then judge by lord of sign on cusp and the sign which said planet occupies.

The Moon in any adverse aspect to, or in parallel of declination with Mars will cause discord, disruption, struggles for mastery, and a great deal of discontent and hasty speech and quarrelling; to Uranus, separation, sudden estrangement, unfaithfulness and extraordinary experiences. If either of these planets is in the seventh or in fiery signs the evil will be accentuated. The planets to which the Moon applies describe the women the native will meet, affecting or being affected, according to the aspects. The true partner is the one described by the planet to which the Moon first applies.

Uranus in particular is a very important planet to study with regard to love affairs, for this planet affects the magnetism of the native when he comes into contact with those who have the power to influence his emotional nature. Where the Moon is applying to or forms any aspect to Uranus, the native should guard against a sudden or hasty marriage, as in such a case he is almost certain to meet someone after marriage to whom he will become attached. et

Marriage is best consummated when Jupiter is transiting one of the

angles. The time of marriage is seen when the significators by progression form a complete aspect, when the luminaries are in aspect to Jupiter or Venus, or passing through the seventh house. In some horoscopes marriage is very clearly seen, in others it is difficult to discover. Theprogressed Moon, passing through the radical or progressed seventh, is sure to awaken amatory feelings on the part of the native.

The following descriptions will apply in a modified sense where the planet described is ruler of the seventh house, if there be no planet occupying the house.

NEPTUNE: usually signifies strange relations in the marriage state. clandestine attachments, seduction, or a platonic union, according to general tone of horoscope. Often marriage is unexpectedly delayed or prevented at the last moment, or an engagement from which much was hoped falls through.

Uranus: is not good for partnerships and denotes trouble through strangers and opponents. It is as a rule an exceedingly unfortunate position.

SATURN: is very evil for partnerships or litigation, and denotes some very persistent enemies or opponents, by whom the native loses. Steadiness and patience need to be cultivated.

JupirER: should give success through partnerships, also in legal affairs, and gain, either directly or indirectly, through litigation.

Mars: very unfavourable for legal disputes, denoting much loss, trouble and annoyance, with great difficulty in bringing litigation toa termination. The native is usually somewhat turbulent or quarrel some in disposition, and tends to get himself into trouble by truculent behaviour.

Tue Sun: gives success in legal affairs, and will help the native in all litigation or matters in which the law may be invoked. It denotes opponents who will act from a sense of justice and a love of right, and although powerful they will act generously and with magnanimity. If afflicted, the opposition that the native will meet may be severe but the solar influence will help as well as make the opposition powerful. If well aspected, gain through lawsuits, and a successful issue to all affairs of a legal nature is shown. It favours settlement by arbitration or | mutual consent.

VENUS: is very favourable for partnerships, and denotes success in

litigation if not very much afflicted; otherwise it always gives disappointment.

Mercury: gives a liability to much litigation if once started ; trivial and petty worries and quarrels, much wordy warfare and unprofitable correspondence: law should be avoided altogether unless Mercury is well aspected by Jupiter. If afflicted this denotes much annoyance from opponents who are better ignored than noticed. Lawyers and solicitors are best avoided, especially if Mercury is much afflicted, as it denotes them to be incompetent or untrustworthy, and therefore likely to cause much trouble and loss.

Tue Moon: not favourable for legal affairs, and shows danger of much loss and trouble in connection with litigation. It makes the native unpopular and denotes female enmity, and opposition of a public nature, which, if the Moon is afflicted, will bring notoriety and ill-repute. It will be well for the native to avoid law even if the Moon is well aspected, for then he would gain only fame or public notice, but would in all probability lose financially. |

In considering the question of marriage it is advisable to take into account the indications afforded by the e/eventh house as well as those © of the seventh. It seems probable that good or bad aspects thrown to the marriage significators from planets in the eleventh house are respectively much better and much worse than from any other part of the map except the seventh house. Cases are known in which the marriage partner is born under the sign on the cusp of the native’s eleventh house, or under the rulership of a planet in that house. The eleventh house seems to have much to do with ideal attachments and the higher side of the love nature which is less personal.

According to the old rules the Moon and Venus must be carefully considered in all cases of marriage. If tbe Moon and many planets are placed between the first and tenth houses or the seventh and fourth, then an early marriage is denoted, or in a male horoscope (if marriage has not taken place before middle life) men will marry women much younger than themselves. If the Moon is in any of the other portions men to marry late in life or else to women older than themselves.

If the Moon is aspected by Saturn, or if very near the Sun,

marriage is delayed; also if the Sun and Moon are in affliction. If N

the Moon is occidental and afflicting the Sun marriage is rarely consummated.

Happy marriages are those where the Moon, Jupiter and Venus are all in good aspect, with the Sun free from affliction.

The Moon in Gemini, Sagittarius, or Pisces points to more than one marriage especially if oriental, or angular.

In a male horoscope the wife is always described by the planet to which the Moon first applies, for instance if to Saturn, she will be grave, serious, and thoughtful, if to Jupiter, cheerful and fortunate, to Mars, self assertive and hard to please, to Venus, good-looking and a pleasing companion, to Mercury, clever and sensible. In a female horoscope the Sun is to be taken as the Moon in a male horoscope in this respect. The description of the wife (husband) is that of the planet forming the nearest aspect to the Moon (Sun), and partakes largely of the sign which that planet occupies.

If none of these rules can be applied judge well the seventh house and the planets aspecting the cusps.

In FemaLteE Horoscopes the Sun, Venus, and Mars are the chief significators. A good marriage is made if the Sun is in good aspect to Mars, and Mars well placed, but if the Sun has no aspect to Mars and is afflicted by Saturn, then marriage is hard to find. If the Sun is oriental a woman marries early, or to men younger than themselves as already stated, but if occidental then a late marriage or to men who are their elders. More than one marriage is shown if the Sun is in Gemini, Sagittarius, or Pisces. Venus afflicting Saturn denotes trouble in the marriage state.
