Lia. UD iS A.—Unfortunate aspect; trouble in life through impulsive action; given to exaggeration; somewhat careless or reckless. Hasty temper and given to anger.

Mercury stands as an indicator of the mental qualifications, and expresses the wisdom of the native, either through intellect or consciousness in any form, as expressed by the sign, aspects and position by house. It may be considered as a mirror of the mind, just as the Moon #s a reflector of the senses.

121. % %.—Denotes quick mental ability; rapid perception and observation ; fertile and inventive brain, but prone to be changeable ; easily worried or affécted by external conditions.

122. % &.—Slow mind, plodding, patient and persevering ; mind usually affected by feeling. Hencea love of the arts, music and poetry, but a mind that is apt to be uncompromising; over firm, yet usually just and sincere, although proud and often too rigidly strict.

123. & W.—Literary tastes, a variable though expansive mind; versatile, active and alert: a good conversationalist, speaker or entertainer. When well aspected gives splendid facility of expression.

124. % 95.—Changeable, inquisitive, ingenious, perceptive, psychic, impressionable, tactful and ambitious. Usually an over-sensitive mind.

125. & St.—Rational, concentrative; mentally generous; very intuitive; capable of mental responsibility; competent to control, command or manage; usually fond of mental power.

126. & T.—Active mind; good and comprehensive memory; mentally practical; good at teaching, book-keeping and all common every-day pursuits of the mind where method, order and classification are required.

127. % = +.—Eloquent, good comparison and judgment; mentally affable, artistic, orderly, just and persuasive. Keen intuition, with very humane tendencies. Capable orator or literary exponent.

128. & M-—Mentally positive ; obstinate and difficult to convince; but capable of much enthusiasm or great indignation. Powerful mental attitude; with very keen mental likes and dislikes. Always shrewd, active and secretive. Clever in detection, having much tact aud diplomacy. Often witty but sarcastic, with much concentration and power to understand mysteries.

129. & f—Mentally frank, just and straightforward. Often religious-minded or fond of philosophy. Facile in expression, but lacking in continuity. Too out-spoken or over-active mentally, the mind being very dual; sometimes brilliant and given to prophetic utterances. |

130. §% ¥.—Subtle, cautious, diplomatic; often clever or very resourceful. Ambitious, capable of responsibility or organisation.

_ Inclined to be sympathetic and orderly. Often methodical, with the ability to study deep and profound subjects.

131. § ¢.—Bright and comprehensive mind; a good memory, capable of great mental culture. Fond of science, literature or religion. Apt to be fixed in opinions and averse to mental changes. Fond of educational pursuits, concentrative, intuitive and usually a student of human nature.

132. % .—Mediumistic or receptive mind, voluble in speech; subject to fits of depression; mind often too negative, but capable ot versatility, much depending on education and other aspects, as to the effect of this position.

The Aspects to Mercury are important, since that planet is a mirror of the mind and, being convertible, Mercury is often a duplicate of the aspecting planet.

133. &% * .4.—An unfavourable aspect for the mind, inclining to vague and unpractical imaginations. Visionary or utopian ideas. A tendency either to deceive or be deceived, with strong inclinations towards the sensuous, and sometimes towards the sensual, side of life from the mental standpoint.

134. & *% &.—Anmind that is very susceptible to higher influences; inclined towards romantic experiences; broad mental sympathies. Often cultivating high ideals. For the mentally cultured, the power to weave beautiful plots or original designs. A good aspect for a novelist.

135. 9% ‘ C.—A peculiar type of mind, often developing zsthetic tendencies. Usually a mind that is paradoxical, dreamy, and given to weaving many strange theories that are often more or less unpractical.

136. §& Hl A.—A mind that is usually sarcastic, or inclined to be abrupt or irritable. This aspect disorganises the nervous system, owing to the friction that the aspect produces; gives unpopularity, difficulties in dealing with strangers, and a mental magnetism that is not attractive.

137. % HH B—An original mind, inventive or given to expressions of genius ; aptitude in most pursuits, producing a mental outlook of the widest character. It denotes a firm mind; a love of principle; and capable of higher thought than the average. Ifthe analytical ability is strong it gives much inner perception and a good mental grasp of higher subjects.

138. §% H C.—This position denotes a great deal of nervous energy, which inclines towards an abrupt and very independent nature. The mind is liable to change very suddenly, but is always ingenious and inventive. It denotes either a crank or a profound thinker according to the indications of the horoscope as a whole.
