Mercury is also important because lord of the ascendant and in mundane trine thereto from the cusp of the ninth house. Jupiter is in the lower part of the ascendant in close trine to the Sun.Lord Rosebery (orn 3 a.m., 7th May, 1847, London) has the end of Pisces rising, and Aries intercepted in the ascendant containing Uranus and Mercury therein. Lord Rosebery is not ‘lucky’ enough for a Prime Minister. His best aspects come from the third house (speaking or writing) instead of the tenth or eleventh.When Leo rises the Sun is the ruling planet in the majority of cases ; but if amy planet rises in Leo it will be the ruling planet unless the Sun is very powerfully placed in the map. The Sun as ruler gives dignity, power, loyalty, ambition, vitality, and a very strong and powerful magnetism. And, to effect this, the hours ° in question must be noted, and it must first be observed, by the right ascensions agai, how many equatorial times the succeeding degree; at ‘its original position, is distant from the degree on the mid-heaven 5 and then it must be seeri how many equatorial times it will be distant, on coming to the preceding degree’s distance in temperal hours from the © said mid-heaven: this will be found, by multiplying those hours by the succeeding degree’s horaty times; diurnal, if

C. are sure to produce effects worthy of envy, (if any thing can justify that passion.)Planets in the fourth house, although angular, are by no means so powerful as in any of the other angles ; and although they foreshow an eminent name, late in life, it is by no means durable, but liable to strange interruptions ; while they who have the fortunate planets, especially 1/ or $ in the tenth house, have a durable celebrity. The cause for this may be probably owing to the natural strength of the mid-heaven, since every thing in the creation, seems to point to the zenith ; and indeed were it not for the fructifying and genial beams of the Sun, in his diurnal approach to that part of the heavens, not only would all vegetation be annihilated, but all the earth would become barren, bleak, and desolate. The mid-heaven is therefore justly accounted by Astrologers, the most powerful angle in the whole celestial circle of the heavenly houses.
